Football Game Preview: Sparrows Point Pointers vs. Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines + Official Tickets

The Sparrows Point Pointers will venture away from home to challenge the Western Tech & Environmental Science Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Sparrows Point has six straight wins, Western Tech & Environmental Science has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Sparrows Point and Pikesville meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Pointers came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 22-14.

Sparrows Point's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mikey Maynor led the charge by rushing for 115 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Maynor's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 115 rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Maceo Hardnett, who rushed for 14 yards and one TD.

Western Tech & Environmental Science had taken Patapsco down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Wolverines took a blow against the Patriots, falling 60-16.

Western Tech & Environmental Science's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Sparrows Point, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Sparrows Point barely slipped by Western Tech & Environmental Science when the teams last played back in October of 2024, winning 15-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pointers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
