Volleyball Preview: Kennedy Eagles vs. Maloney Spartans

The Kennedy Eagles will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against the Maloney Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Kennedy took on Woodland Regional last Saturday. Kennedy came up short against Woodland Regional, falling 3-0. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.

Meanwhile, Maloney unfortunately witnessed the end of their 22-game winning streak dating back to last season on Monday. They fell just short of Glastonbury by a score of 3-2. That makes it the first time this season the Spartans have let down their home crowd.

Maloney took Glastonbury into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-27, 25-13, 25-14, 27-29, 15-9.

Even though they lost, Maloney was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 22 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 36 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Kennedy's record now sits at 9-11. As for Maloney, their loss ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-1.
