Derby hadn't done well against Valley Center recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Panthers walked away with a 2-0 win over the Hornets. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Hornets last Tuesday, they had to take a 2-1 defeat.

Derby never let Valley Center on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 26-24.

The victory made it two in a row for Derby and bumps their season record up to 13-13. As for Valley Center, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-12.

Looking ahead, Derby will be taking part in a tournament against Washburn Rural at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Valley Center, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against South on the 7th.
