Baseball Game Preview: Atherton Wolverines vs. Morrice Orioles

Atherton hasn't had much luck against Morrice recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Wolverines will be playing at home against the Orioles at 4:30 p.m. Atherton has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Atherton came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Genesee Christian, falling 16-6.

Brennan Eaton was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Morrice and Webberville meet (six straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Orioles fell 8-3 to the Spartans. The Orioles haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Austin Gutting made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Oliver Long, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with four stolen bases.

Atherton's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Morrice, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.
