Baseball Game Preview: Cleveland Rams vs. Fuquay - Varina Bengals

Cleveland and Fuquay - Varina are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cleveland Rams will welcome the Fuquay - Varina Bengals at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cleveland has five straight victories, Fuquay - Varina has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, everything went Cleveland's way against Southeast Raleigh as Cleveland made off with a 15-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Cleveland let Mason Collins and Thad Parker run wild. Collins scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2, while Parker scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-3. Those three stolen bases gave Collins a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooks Moore, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Cleveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Fuquay - Varina didn't have quite enough to beat Corinth Holders on Friday and fell 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Bengals have lost by exactly two runs.

Cleveland pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Cleveland couldn't quite finish off Fuquay - Varina when the teams last played back in March of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Cleveland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
