Softball Game Preview: Tahquitz Titans vs. Canyon Springs Cougars

The Tahquitz Titans are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they will take on the Canyon Springs Cougars at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Tahquitz is headed out to face Canyon Springs after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. Everything went Tahquitz's way against Indian Springs on Wednesday as Tahquitz made off with a 20-1 victory.

Reyna Garcia and Suriah Ortiz did most of the damage at the plate: Garcia went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Ortiz scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave Ortiz a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Jennen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Tahquitz kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least eight hits in 11 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Canyon Springs put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Rancho Verde 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cougars have posted since March 15, 2024.
