Football Game Preview: Tri-County Academy Rebels vs. Columbia Academy Cougars

After each having a week off, the Tri-County Academy Rebels and the Columbia Academy Cougars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Columbia Academy will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Tri-County Academy extended their winning streak to seven two weeks ago. The Rebels blew past Riverfield Academy, posting a 46-8 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-0.

Meanwhile, Columbia Academy got themselves on the board against Christian Collegiate Academy last Friday, but Christian Collegiate Academy never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bulldogs 54-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 83rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 274th).

Columbia Academy's win came from a few key players Tri-County Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bentley Myers, who rushed for 60 yards and one score.

Columbia Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Tri-County Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.

Tri-County Academy strolled past Columbia Academy when the teams last played back in November of 2024 by a score of 21-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rebels since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
