Baseball Game Preview: Laguna Hills Hawks vs. Tustin Tillers

For the first time this season, Laguna Hills will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. They will look to defend their home field against the Tustin Tillers at 3:15 p.m. Laguna Hills is coming into the match hot, having won their last six games.

Laguna Hills' pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over Oxford Academy. That six run margin sets a new team best for the Hawks this season.

The team relied heavily on Damian Youngman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Truett Kordes was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Tustin didn't have quite enough to beat Orange on Saturday and fell 2-1.

Anthony Herrera was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits.

On the hitting side, Daniel Benally was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Laguna Hills pushed their record up to 6-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Tustin, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.

Laguna Hills couldn't quite finish off Tustin when the teams last played back in February of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can Laguna Hills avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
