Football Game Preview: Marfa Shorthorns vs. Grady Wildcats

Marfa is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Grady Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. Marfa has given up an average of 37.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Marfa's last matchup with Grandfalls-Royalty could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup last Friday. The Shorthorns took a blow against the Cowboys, falling 61-16. The Shorthorns have struggled against the Cowboys recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Grady scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 71-66 to Buena Vista. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (58), the Wildcats still had to take the loss.

Marfa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Grady, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Marfa was taken down by Grady 58-18 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Shorthorns avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
