Preview: Covenant Christian Academy Cougars vs. Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts

Covenant Christian Academy is 9-1 against Marie Philip since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Covenant Christian Academy Cougars have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Marie Philip Galloping Ghosts at 5:45 p.m. on February 13th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Massachusetts (Covenant Christian Academy is ranked 43rd, while Marie Philip is ranked 33rd).

Last Wednesday, Covenant Christian Academy was the victim of a rough 56-34 defeat at the hands of Boston University Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Covenant Christian Academy has scored all season.

Meanwhile, Marie Philip put the finishing touches on their 17th blowout victory of the season on Sunday. They blew past Lexington School for the Deaf 74-45 on the road. Marie Philip's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Marie Philip can attribute much of their success to Jeremy Novas, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds, and Xavier DeLeon, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds and four steals. DeLeon is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Stokely Karp, who scored 13 points along with five steals.

Covenant Christian Academy now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Marie Philip, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 21-7.

Covenant Christian Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Marie Philip in their previous matchup on Monday, but they still walked away with a 51-47 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was DeLeon, who dropped a triple-double on 27 points, 18 rebounds, and ten steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Covenant Christian Academy still be able to contain DeLeon? There's only one way to find out.
