Softball Recap: Cosby Has No Trouble Against L.C. Bird

Cosby never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over the L.C. Bird Skyhawks. With that win, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.

Lex Throckmorton made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Throckmorton was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cosby got a massive performance out of Jill Bossler, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Aislin Bossler was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one double.

Cosby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Cosby's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for L.C. Bird, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cosby will take on rival Powhatan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Titans 2, the Indians 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, L.C. Bird is set to face off against their familiar foe Midlothian at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
