Basketball Recap: Maya Collins and Myah Dickerson Secure Win for Lemon Bay

Lemon Bay won the last time they faced North Port and things went their way on Thursday too. Everything went the Lemon Bay Manta Rays' way against the North Port Bobcats as the Lemon Bay Manta Rays made off with a 53-30 victory.

Lemon Bay was led to victory by Myah Dickerson and Maya Collins. Dickerson dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards, while Collins almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Collins is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 38 games she's played dating back to last season. Mackenzie Long was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven assists and six boards.

Lemon Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 17 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

North Port's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rhiley Richards, who posted 11 points, and Gisele Novielli, who had five points and seven rebounds. That was a full 36.7% of North Port's points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

The win got Lemon Bay back to even at 6-6. As for North Port, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-6.

Lemon Bay won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bishop Verot at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Collins and Cameron O'Halloran. As for North Port, they and Manatee will face off at 4:30 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played.
