Softball Game Preview: Frazier Commodores vs. Waynesburg Central Raiders

The Frazier Commodores will challenge the Waynesburg Central Raiders at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Waynesburg Central will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Frazier extended their winning streak to five on Wednesday. The Commodores' pitchers stepped up to hand Brownsville a 6-0 shutout. Considering the Commodores have won three matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Waynesburg Central got the win against Washington on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-2. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Prexies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Gina Tedrow made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 17 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kylee Schaum, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Bria Stephenson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Frazier pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Waynesburg Central, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
