Softball Recap: Ledford Turns Things Around After Road Loss

Ledford's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Northern Guilford on Thursday. The Ledford Panthers blew past the Forsyth Home Educators Hawks 16-2. Considering the Panthers have won four matchups by more than 13 runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Hailey Hoots was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Alana Herrera was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Nicola Simpson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Ledford's record is now 5-1. As for Forsyth Home Educators, they suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ledford will face off against Central Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ledford's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so Central Davidson's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Forsyth Home Educators, they will take on Hickory Grove Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
