Baseball Recap: Union Area Find Success

Union Area posted their closest win since April 19, 2024 on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 victory over the Rochester Rams. The Scotties haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Fred Settle and Maddox Ryhal did most of the damage at the plate: Settle scored three runs and stole four bases, while Ryhal scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Ryhal a new career-high in hits (two). Logan Staph was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Union Area always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Union Area back to even at 3-3. As for Rochester, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Rams beat Union Area by a score of 16-1 later that day.
