Basketball Recap: Clarksville Takes a Loss

If Clarksville was feeling good fresh off their 75-39 takedown of Northeast two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Clarksville Wildcats took a 69-54 bruising from the Springfield Yellow Jackets on Tuesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Despite the loss, Clarksville still got an impressive performance from Dawson Smith, who posted five points and eight boards. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last seven games he's played. Thomas King was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Clarksville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Clarksville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-15. As for Springfield, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-19.

Clarksville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 72-65 win against Rossview on the 27th. As for Springfield, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 70-45 loss against Dickson County on the 1st.
