Softball Recap: St. Catherine's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

While St. Catherine's win against St. Joseph wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Angels narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Lancers 4-2. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Angels as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Annika Munoz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Londyn Pardo, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mandy Deschler, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

St. Catherine's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for St. Joseph, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

St. Catherine's has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against St. Thomas More on the 29th. As for St. Joseph, they will look to defend their home field on May 6 against Martin Luther at 4:30 p.m.
