Basketball Game Preview: Mountain Vista Golden Eagles vs. Eaglecrest Raptors

The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the Eaglecrest Raptors at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Mountain Vista comes in on five and Eaglecrest on 17.

Mountain Vista is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-57 win over Chaparral.

Mountain Vista can attribute much of their success to Cal Baskind, who shot 59% from the field en route to 27 points, and Oliver Junker, who went 6-for-10 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and four blocks. Baskind's afternoon made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hudson Rooney, who posted five points.

Meanwhile, Eaglecrest faced ThunderRidge in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Eaglecrest took down ThunderRidge 70-54.

Mountain Vista's record now sits at 21-5. As for Eaglecrest, their record is now 24-2.

Mountain Vista couldn't quite finish off Eaglecrest when the teams last played back in January and fell 69-66. Can Mountain Vista avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
