Preview: King's Academy Knights vs. Marshall Christian Academy Guardians
King's Academy is 0-10 against Marshall Christian Academy since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The King's Academy Knights will head out on the road to face off against the Marshall Christian Academy Guardians at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, King's Academy didn't have too much trouble with Tyler Classical Academy on the road as they won 55-38.
Evan Hellwig continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. He hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Everett Hollis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Marshall Christian Academy strolled past Providence Classical Academy with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 64-45. The victory was all the more spectacular given Marshall Christian Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1212th in Texas, while Providence Classical Academy is ranked 199th in Louisiana).
King's Academy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-16. As for Marshall Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season.
King's Academy came up short against Marshall Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 50-40. Can King's Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
