Basketball Recap: Akron-Westfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against George-Little Rock last Friday, Akron-Westfield came back down to earth. The Akron-Westfield Westerners fell 63-54 to the St. Mary's Hawks on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Westerners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Hawks are ranked 89th).

Akron-Westfield dropped their record down to 4-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for St. Mary's, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Akron-Westfield will look to defend their home court on Friday against Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn at 7:30 p.m. As for St. Mary's, they will face off against Trinity Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
