Softball Recap: Lincoln Comes Up Short

Lincoln might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Marshall who claimed the real prize. The Tigers fell just short of the Barristers by a score of 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Monica Amaya and Gladys Barajas did some serious damage despite the final result: Amaya scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Barajas scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jayce Toc, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

This is the second loss in a row for Lincoln and nudges their season record down to 5-4. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for Marshall, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lincoln will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Eagle Rock at 2:15 p.m. on the 21st. As for Marshall, they will take on Garfield at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Barristers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 9.9 runs per game this season.
