Basketball Game Preview: Horizon Hawks vs. Bloomingdale Bulls

The Horizon Hawks will square off against the Bloomingdale Bulls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Horizon comes in on seven and Bloomingdale on nine.

Horizon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bailey Travis out in front who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Travis a new career-high. Amaya Mitchell was another key player, going 8-for-20 on her way to 16 points along with six boards and four steals.

Horizon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bloomingdale blew past Bayside, posting a 60-31 win. The Bulls have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 29 points or more this season.

Horizon better keep an eye on Noelle Mengel. She was instrumental in Bloomingdale's win, going 7-for-10 to rack up 19 points and three steals. Mengel has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Izellah Kendrick, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Horizon has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 24.7 boards per game.
