Baseball Game Preview: Amelia Academy Patriots vs. Fuqua Falcons

The Amelia Academy Patriots will square off against the Fuqua Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Amelia Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

Two weeks ago, Amelia Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Fuqua. They put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 14-6 victory. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Aiden Long made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over 4.1 innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Amelia Academy is 3-1 when Long posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise.

In other batting news, Amelia Academy let Amir Hall and Jacob Creswell run wild. Hall got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Creswell went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kaivin Dowell was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one double.

Amelia Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Amelia Academy back to even at 5-5. As for Fuqua, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
