Baseball Game Preview: Passaic Valley Hornets vs. Fair Lawn Cutters

For the second straight game, Passaic Valley will face off against Fair Lawn. The Hornets will venture away from home to square off against the Cutters at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Passaic Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Fair Lawn's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Passaic Valley's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Fair Lawn with a sharp 9-0 win. That looming 9-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Hornets yet this season.

Fair Lawn's batters probably weren't too happy with Jake Delaney, who pitched a no hitter (he gave up a single walk).

At the plate, Michael Liotti was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Dante Benvenuti, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Passaic Valley's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Fair Lawn, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
