Recap: Westside Christian Academy Eagles vs. Christian Community Warriors

The Westside Christian Academy Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Christian Community 54-48. While losing is never fun, Westside Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 741st, while Christian Community is ranked 342nd).

Westside Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nate Taylor, who scored 14 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Calvin Cottenden, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.

It was another big night for Seth Roberts, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks for Christian Community. That's the first time this season that Roberts posted two or more blocks. Grant Doeringer was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Westside Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Christian Community, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-2.

Westside Christian Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on First Baptist Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 4, 2024. First Baptist Christian is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Christian Community will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Horizon Science Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
