Basketball Recap: Asunti Porter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grovetown over Rockdale County

Grovetown was the 54-51 winner over Rockdale County when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Grovetown Warriors fell 60-47 to the Rockdale County Bulldogs on Tuesday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Warriors came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 229th).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Asunti Porter, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Layla Brinson, who scored seven points.

Even though they lost, Grovetown was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rockdale County only racked up six assists.

Rockdale County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Brooke Glasgow out in front who put up 20 points and seven boards. Glasgow is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Jada Henry was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Grovetown has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season. As for Rockdale County, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-9.

Grovetown wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 47-39 victory against Greenbrier on the 8th. As for Rockdale County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-46 loss against South Gwinnett on the 10th.
