Basketball Game Preview: Iroquois Redhawks vs. Lackawanna Steelers

The Iroquois Redhawks will venture away from home to face off against the Lackawanna Steelers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, Iroquois escaped with a win against West Seneca East by the margin of a single free throw, 46-45. Given the Redhawks 's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while the Trojans are ranked 689th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Lackawanna posted their closest win since January 5, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged Lake Shore out 54-52.

Iroquois' victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Lackawanna, their win bumped their record up to 3-11.

Iroquois took their victory against Lackawanna when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 71-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Iroquois since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
