Basketball Recap: Parris Prep Academy Takes a Loss

If Parris Prep Academy was feeling good fresh off their 100-68 takedown of Grace Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Parris Prep Academy Panthers fell 70-63 to the New Faith Christian Academy Titans on Saturday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 36th in North Carolina, while the Titans are ranked 244th in Georgia).

When it comes to explaining why Parris Prep Academy lost, don't look at Garrett Morgan. Despite the final result, he posted 29 points. Morgan's evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jyler Standifer, who had 13 points.

Parris Prep Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for New Faith Christian Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-10.

Parris Prep Academy and Quality Education Academy will face off at 2:20 p.m. on Sunday without much rest having both just played. As for New Faith Christian Academy, they will welcome Wilson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Faith Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Wilson Academy likes a good challenge.
