Baseball Game Preview: Castle View Sabercats vs. Sunrise Mountain Mustangs

The Castle View Sabercats will head out to challenge the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Castle View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Valor Christian on Tuesday. Castle View never let Valor Christian get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.

Samuel Harry was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 2-for-2. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Derek Gordon was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Sunrise Mountain got the win against Santa Fe South on Saturday by a conclusive 15-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Easton Thomas looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Keaston Bowman, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Grott, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Sunrise Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sunrise Mountain is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. Castle View's record now sits at 2-0.
