Softball Recap: Littleton Drops Highest Score of Season Against North Middlesex Regional

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Littleton). They blew past the North Middlesex Regional Patriots 17-2 on Friday. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Alyson Laing was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Laing was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-4. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Annabelle Caouette was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Breese Jeanson, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Littleton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory (which was Littleton's third in a row) raised their record to 6-10. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for North Middlesex Regional, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littleton will host Ayer Shirley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for North Middlesex Regional, they will take on Nashoba Regional at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
