Softball Game Preview: Rice Lake Warriors vs. Eau Claire North Huskies

The Rice Lake Warriors will venture away from home to take on the Eau Claire North Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eau Claire North took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rice Lake, who comes in off a win.

Rice Lake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on River Falls with a sharp 15-3 win on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Kamryn Kunz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rice Lake got a massive performance out of Ava Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Anderson has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Harper Schommer, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Meanwhile, Eau Claire North was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 4-0 to Marshfield.

The win made it two in a row for Rice Lake and bumps their season record up to 9-10. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Eau Claire North, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Rice Lake has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Eau Claire North struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
