Basketball Game Preview: Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks vs. Wallace County Wildcats

After both having extra time off, the Wheatland-Grinnell Thunderhawks and the Wallace County Wildcats will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Wheatland-Grinnell has three straight victories, Wallace County has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Two weeks ago, Wheatland-Grinnell beat Golden Plains 51-39.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wheatland-Grinnell to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniel Mason, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. Those 21 points gave Mason a new career-high. Riley Tuttle was another key player, putting up 18 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Wheatland-Grinnell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wallace County played a tough matchup two weeks ago in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 85-55 loss at the hands of Dighton.

Wheatland-Grinnell's win ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-3. As for Wallace County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
