Softball Recap: North Stokes Vikings vs. Starmount Rams        
        
		
            
 If North Stokes was riding high  off their  15-1 takedown of Union Grove Christian last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The North Stokes Vikings fell  10-6 to the Starmount Rams on Tuesday. North Stokes has not had much luck with Starmount recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
 North Stokes saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Caroline Mabe, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.  Madelyn Spencer was another key contributor,  going 1-for-3 with two  stolen bases and  an  RBI.
 On Starmount's side,  Rachael Bates made a splash no matter where she played. She  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (she also didn't allow any  walks). Bates was also solid in the batter's box,  scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while  getting on base  in two of her five plate appearances.
 In other batting news,  Madelyn Brown and  Carley Money did most of the damage at the plate:  Brown  went 2-for-3 with three  RBI, a  triple,  and a  run, while  Money  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Kelsey Dowell, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-1.
 North Stokes' loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Starmount, they are  on a roll lately: they've  won four of their last five matchups,  which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record  this season.
 Both  teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Stokes will  challenge Alleghany at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. North Stokes is facing Alleghany at the right time seeing as Alleghany is stuck on  a  seven-game losing streak. As for Starmount, they are on the road again  on Wednesday to play Mount Airy at 6:00  p.m. Mount Airy is coming into the  contest with six straight  defeats at home,  meaning Starmount will have to defend against a  squad hungry for a  victory.
