Basketball Game Preview: Brookstone Cougars vs. Westfield School Hornets

Brookstone and Westfield School are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2023, but not for long. The Brookstone Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Westfield School Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Brookstone is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against St. Anne-Pacelli on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Brookstone was dealt a 60-20 defeat at the hands of St. Anne-Pacelli. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Westfield School had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 45-19 margin over the Patriots.

Westfield School has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.2 points per game. As for Brookstone, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-13.

Brookstone came up short against Westfield School in their previous matchup back in January, falling 39-32. Can Brookstone avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
