Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Sylmar

Sylmar lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Poly, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Monday's matchup. The Spartans' pitcher stepped up to hand the Parrots a 7-0 shutout on Monday. The win was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on three straight.

Poly's batters probably weren't too happy with Matthew Torres, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 11 Ks (he gave up two walks). Torres has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rickee Luevano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Omar Pinon was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Sylmar's victory bumped their record up to 16-6. As for Poly, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10.

Sylmar will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Parrots: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
