Baseball Recap: Russell County Sets Scoring Season-High Against Clinton County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Russell County). They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Clinton County Bulldogs on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Russell County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Clinton County, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Russell County will face off against Somerset at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Briar Jumpers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Lakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clinton County, they will take on McCreary Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 11 runs per game this season.
