Garland fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Sachse on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 11-10. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Owls, who until this contest were averaging four runs allowed.

Payton Dean made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Christine Porras was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Dean wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Garland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in nine consecutive games.
Meanwhile, South Garland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They came up short against Rowlett, falling 19-4.
South Garland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenda Blanco, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Blanco also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.
South Garland's defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Garland, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5-1.
South Garland's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Garland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .507. It's a different story for South Garland, though, as they've only averaged .333. Will they be able to contain Garland's hitters?
