League recap: No. 1 Woodland Christian takes down No. 2 Forest Lake Christian

Central Valley California league recap: 5/7/12

In the ongoing battle for first place, Woodland Christian beat Forest Lake Christian this week, 3-1 on May 3, 2012. Woodland Christian is now in first place at 8-1 in Central Valley California and 16-3 overall.

Anthony Castaneda was on fire this week, as he led the league with a .667 average, one home run and four RBIs. His the Cardinals team went 2-0.

Victory Christian boasted the best pitching over the past week, holding opponents to the league's fewest hits and issuing the fewest walks. The Vikings's pitchers have been charged with only 105 hits and have struck out 64 batters. Clayton Coppernoll is tops on the staff with 27 Ks.

The pitchers for Delta were stellar in leading the league with 69 strikeouts this week, but Woodland Christian maintained its overall lead in that department with 152 Ks for the year. Andrew Prizmich leads the Saints with 61 strikeouts in 41 innings on the season.



Aaron Arnett led the league with six hits this week for Foresthill. On the season, he's hitting .371 and ranks twentieth in the league with 13 hits.

Austin Kozlowski was the player of the game on May 1, 2012 with five RBIs in Forest Lake Christian's 14-1 victory over Sacramento Waldorf.
