Baseball Recap: Steele Canyon Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Steele Canyon never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on the El Cajon Valley Braves with a sharp 19-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 26-0 on Tuesday.

Gavin Caha made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Caha was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

In other batting news, Steele Canyon let Tommy Rimoldi and Johann Garcia run wild. Rimoldi went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Garcia went 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Rimoldi is becoming a predictor of Steele Canyon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 4-12 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Leland, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Steele Canyon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Cajon Valley only posted a batting average of .000.

Steele Canyon's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-13. As for El Cajon Valley, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Steele Canyon will take on Mount Miguel at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars are facing the Matadors at the right time seeing as the Matadors are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for El Cajon Valley, they will challenge Monte Vista at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
