Recap: Mercedes Tigers vs. Donna North Chiefs
The Mercedes Tigers won the last time they faced the Donna North Chiefs, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mercedes blew past Donna North, posting a 71-17 victory on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Mercedes has managed all season.
Mercedes got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaymie Flores out in front who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Flores has scored at least 25% of Mercedes' points. Randi Lara was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and six assists.
Mercedes pushed their record up to 16-7 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Donna North, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-21.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercedes will challenge Pace at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pace will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1317th, while Mercedes is ranked 465th). As for Donna North, they will head out on the road to face off against Lopez at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Lopez is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.
