Preview: Antonian Prep Apaches vs. Trinity Christian Trojans
After each having a week off, the Antonian Prep Apaches and the Trinity Christian Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on November 17th. Hopefully Antonian Prep is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Trinity Christian in Texas (Antonian Prep is ranked 281st, while Trinity Christian is ranked 580th).
Antonian Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They took a hard 42-24 fall against St. Thomas Catholic.
Antonian Prep's loss came about despite a quality game from Jayce Toscano, who threw for 234 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 45-14 victory over Nolan Catholic. The win was just what Trinity Christian needed coming off of a 56-28 defeat in their prior match.
Trinity Christian relied on the efforts of Aidan Mills, who threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and Matthew Cortez, who rushed for 121 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Schumacher, who picked up 92 receiving yards and a touchdown.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Trinity Christian's defense and their eight sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Bobby Fish and Luke Dor? who racked up 4.5 sacks between them.
Antonian Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Trinity Christian, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-7.
