Baseball Recap: Red Bank Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Red Bank came tearing into Thursday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the CSTHEA Patriots. For the Lions, this counts as revenge for the 12-7 win the Patriots walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Anyer Alvarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 13 Ks. Red Bank is undefeated when Alvarez allows one or fewer hits, but 11-12 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Barkeloo, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. He has become a key player for Red Bank: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 9-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Brune, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.

Red Bank's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-12. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for CSTHEA, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-7.

Coincidentally, Red Bank and CSTHEA will both be playing Moore County the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Lions will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
