Baseball Recap: Palmer Terrors vs. Widefield Gladiators
Palmer extended their losing streak to eight on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They came up short against the Widefield Gladiators, falling 11-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gladiators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.
As for Widefield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-7 record this season. The result was nothing new for Widefield, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Widefield's part, they got a massive performance out of Nick Prantl, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Prantl has become a key player for the Gladiators: the team is 9-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Gizzi, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Palmer wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-3 loss against Harrison on the 8th. As for Widefield, they have also already played their next game, a 6-2 defeat against Mesa Ridge on the 8th.
