Basketball Recap: Neshoba Central Takes a Loss

Neshoba Central lost against Ridgeland on January 3rd and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Neshoba Central Rockets were dealt a 79-46 loss at the hands of the Ridgeland Titans. While losing is never fun, the Rockets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while the Titans are ranked third).

Phil Nelson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Ridgeland, going 7 of 14 on his way to 23 points and five steals. Nelson's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Ashton Manuel was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to seven assists and five steals.

Neshoba Central dropped their record down to 9-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Ridgeland, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 21-4.

Neshoba Central has already played their next matchup (against Vicksburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Ridgeland has also has no score uploaded for their next game, this one against Warren Central.
