Baseball Recap: Central Columbia Takes a Loss

Central Columbia had lost four straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it five. They lost 9-0 to the Loyalsock Township Lancers. The match marked the first time this year in which the Bluejays were not able to get on the board.

As for Loyalsock Township, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-4. The game was the first time they have beaten Central Columbia on their field since May 29, 2021.

For Loyalsock Township's part, not much got past Deryk Kulp, who gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks to keep Central Columbia off the board.

At the plate, Chase Wright and Kayden Keefer did most of the damage at the plate: Wright went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI, while Keefer got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Keefer has become a key player for Loyalsock Township: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Daniel Dowell was another key player, earning two runs and three stolen bases.

Central Columbia has already played their next contest, a 17-0 win against Milton on the 21st. As for Loyalsock Township, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-2 defeat against Southern Columbia Area on the 21st.
