Basketball Recap: West Ashley Falls Despite Big Games from Damon Junior and Damani White

West Ashley easily dispatched Stall last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The West Ashley Wildcats fell just short of the Summerville Green Wave by a score of 61-59 on Tuesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Green Wave recently, as the team's come up short the last nine times they've met.

West Ashley's loss came despite strong showings from Damani White and Damon Junior. White went 6-for-13 to rack up 14 points in addition to seven assists and three steals, while Junior posted 16 points. What's more, Junior also posted a 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Corbin Guerry, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, West Ashley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

West Ashley's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Summerville, their record now sits at 12-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Ashley will host Ashley Ridge at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Ashley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.1 points per game this season. As for Summerville, they will square off against Fort Dorchester at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
