Softball Recap: Windham Bombers vs. Pymatuning Valley Lakers

Windham lost against Pymatuning Valley back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Windham Bombers wound up on the wrong side of a rough 14-3 walloping at the hands of the Pymatuning Valley Lakers. Windham has not had much luck with Pymatuning Valley recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Windham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydnie Sweet, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

On Pymatuning Valley's side, Saige Payne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Payne has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Payne was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nataleigh Haines, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. McKenna Jordan was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

Windham now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Pymatuning Valley, the win for them keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Windham will head out on the road to face off against Harding at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pymatuning Valley, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Badger at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pymatuning Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 12.5 runs per game this season.
