Recap: Lee Academy Cavaliers vs. Pee Dee Academy Eagles

The Lee Academy Cavaliers couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by Pee Dee Academy 55-26 on Monday. Lee Academy lost against Pee Dee Academy in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-31 score last time.

Leading Pee Dee Academy to victory were Hughes Elvington and Bennett Causey. Elvington scored 16 points along with 3 steals, while Causey dropped a double-double on 12 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Elvington has scored at least 25% of Pee Dee Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Colby Richardson, who scored 4 points along with 5 rebounds.

Lee Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Pee Dee Academy, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Thomas Sumter Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Pee Dee Academy will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Aynor at 7:30 p.m. on December 5th.
