Basketball Recap: Eric Avila's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Baldwin Park over Duarte

Baldwin Park was the 59-42 winner over Duarte when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Baldwin Park Braves took a 54-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Duarte Falcons.

Baldwin Park lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Eric Avila, who went 9 of 21 en route to 24 points and four steals. With that strong performance, Avila is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Rafael Godinez, who posted 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Baldwin Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Baldwin Park's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Duarte, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Baldwin Park wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 76-44 defeat against Sierra Vista on the 16th. Duarte has also already played their next game, a 62-54 win against Garey on the 16th.
