Softball Game Preview: Bishop Gorman Gaels vs. Palo Verde Panthers

Bishop Gorman hasn't had much luck against Palo Verde recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Gaels will square off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Bishop Gorman is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Coronado 10-9. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gaels.

BROOKLYN HICKS was excellent, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of ISABELLA RODRIGUEZ, who earned four runs and one stolen base.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Bishop Gorman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Palo Verde strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Silverado 17-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Palo Verde pushed their record up to 19-0 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Gorman, their record is now 17-11-1.

Bishop Gorman couldn't quite get it done against Palo Verde when the teams last played back in March as they fell 7-4. Can the Gaels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
